Separation and joint Mortgage

Hello every one, and yes this is a guy looking for help.. 5yrs ago i walked out on my wife and kids, i know big mistake dont know why, i think i just had enough of married life after 15 yrs and i have regretted it ever since, but ive never seen them stuck for any thing. We came to a joint agreement that i would pay the mortgage as maintenance and the insurances on the house, then the csa wouldnt have to be involved and we have kept to this agreement ever since, now we didnt get a legal separation at that time we just split, 5 yrs on and we are still apart... so we have decided to go ahead with the next step legal separation, divorce ????? but one thing we have both agreed on is, that we will keep the house as a joint mortgage until the market improves as the value is very low at the minute. Can any one tell me what is my next step, i dont want to go to a solicitor until i get the all the facts, and is it possible to keep the house in both are names thx

The best source of advice and info that specifically relates to your circumstances and wishes will be your solicitor so I hope you have now been to see one and have found a solution that is fair to all of those involved including yourself.
