I am at my wits end with my skin! At almost 30 I have had been enduring Acne for almost a year (never had it in before). Been to the Docs who thinks its stress related he prescribed Quinoderm cream which has made my skin dry and sensitised but acne still there. I am also worried about the scarring being left behind. The doc says next step is medication but I am not too keen and would like to find another way to control or get rid of this.
I have found this - Zeno Acne Clearing Device click for link to their website. Reviews sound amazing - well of course they would! and it has won awards- but I am really interested. It costs about £99 in Boots so is a considered purchase but if it did the job I would gladly pay it.
Would love to hear from anyone who has one or general advice - all replies appreciated

I'm 31 and use freederm gel, get from over the counter in Boots, superdrug etc.
About £8, try it first before shelling out £99.

Im nearly 29 & have had more outbursts in last couple of years than all through puberty!!
Ive just had a face steam & i find that really helps. My doctor advised me of this as well as creams.
Just few drops of teatree oil & hot water in a bowl & put my head over covered by a towel. It open you pores etc & the steam (with teatree oil in) gets in straight away. kinda inside rather than just creams on top. i do this once a week & it brightens my skin & helps clean my skin with all the spots & bacteria of creams.
Tea tree oil lasts ages & can be used for loads of things.
Why does this happen at our age!!2010 is my DO IT year! grow own bits, savvy shopping, organised!!Get a hobby!!! be fit!! be happy!!
Saving all change & paying off debts!!
constantly looking to save money!!! all help needed!!0 -
Thanks for the replies folks -
I am wary of trying more topical creams or steaming as my face is so oversensitised, I can just about take the steam in the shower on my face at the moment but its not a pleasant feeling.
Glad I am not the only one who would rather have their teenage skin back!
Guess its back to the Doctor

Im 44 and I still get spots
Ive had them since I was about 11 and Ive tried most things although not this Zeno thing I admit. I have found this very good http://www.murad.com/acne-products.html if you get the starter kit its £25 approx, I just keep re-ordering this as to buy the products seperatly is very expensive. It did take about 4 weeks to work as it says and since then I only seem to get a few spots around the time of my period, which is a big improvement for me.
I do hope you all find something that helps sooner than I did

DS, me again lol, Ive had a proper look at the zeno link now and I think it depends how bad your acne is. It seems to work for the odd spot rather than severe acne, it would be difficult to use it if you had a lot of spots close together. It is a lot of money to shell out but if you have the money it does do a 30 day trial so you could get your money back if it doesnt work.
Let us know what you decide.

I am nearly 34 and still regularly suffer mild adult acne..most depressing.
However...
I can highly recommend dermalogica anti bac facewash and overnight gel, it really clears up spots quickly for me

Not the cheapest I know...but has worked well for me0 -
Hi DS
Boy stress spots are the worse i know i suffer with them but not no more!!!
there are two things that I have found really work not only for me but my B.i.L who has now stopped taking his prescription for his acne-- a problem that has been with him for over 35years and has left scaring- his daughter my son and my neice are teens who also sufferer they now use both these. These can be bought from Holland and Barratt first one is called NEW ERA calc.sulph. (they go by numbers so this one is no3) these are made from safe, natural, ingredients (which i love )and cost £4 +pence for 450 tablets
the second item is called Desert Essence throughly clean face wash this is made with tea tree oil, Awapuhi and Swiss chamomile I love this as it feels really clean and does not dry my skin out it costs £7 + pence but lasts for ages as you only need a small ammount
Try them and tell me that they dont even clear or keep it at bay and for approx £12 it's a lot less than your £99
Good luckwins to date..................none!! nadda... zilch... nothing not a blinking thing AT ALL .. Oh well... may be one day .:o

Interesting, i will look out for them...just had a look at the packaging so I know what to look for0 -
a few years ago i started suffering from acne and went through so many different medications, from going on the pill (horrible results - thought i was dying one day...but that is another story) antibiotics (dreadful allergy - at least i know now what i cannot be prescribed in the future) and being very into natural remedies tried so many different products. however, i after all the hit and miss i ended up being prescribed a roll-on cream that was brilliant. it cleared up the acne within a month and i would really urge you to ask your doctor about it - i know you prefer natural remedies but please consider the traditional route.
if you are entirely committed to natural products only, there is this:

Thanks again I really appreciate the support as this problem has really been getting me down.
I am a qualified Beauty Therapist and had my own salon until recently - long story but obviously a huge part of the stress issue. I have a strong knowledge of skincare and I am positive that a lot of my skin problems - especially the sensitivity - are due to the amount of skincare products I have used/tested over the last few years. I am really upset about the mess of my skin, it is so soul destroying, my confidence is rock bottom. I cover up with make up (high quality non comedogenic hypoallergenic makeup) when I have to go out and take it off as soon as I come home as I feel so embarrassed by this.
Along with the Doctors cream I have been using Avene skin care which is excellent and is beginning to help to reduce the sensitivity. Because the spots are on my cheeks and the skin is dry, tight and flaking, most acne/spot skincares would be too harsh and they usually have oil controlling ingredients which would make it worse.
I now think that perhaps a supplement or medication might be the way to go as opposed to more topical treatment so am off to research the supplements amerthyst suggested.
Thanks again
