Anyone here drive/own a Renault Megane with the 1.5DCi engine? Im thinking of buying a 2nd hand one, and Im just wondering what the engine is like? Does have decent speed/acceleration? Can it cope with a car full of passengers and still manage a decent speed?

I would be doing a 80 mile round trip commute to the office, so just wondering how good it is for both motorway and single carriageway driving 5 times a week?

I realise that its a good cheap engine with 60 miles per gallon, cheap tax and insurance etc.

Cheers

Don't own one, but driven plenty!

Go for the later one with the 106bhp engine! they are sweet as a nut and run on fresh air!

CHUBB security use the 1.5 estate version and love em!

You will get 60mpg very easily from them!

£35 roat tax too on tha hathcbacks. Group 3 ins I think?

    Cheers for the input guys.

I think I'll need to arrange a test drive sometime and see if I like it.

We have a Clio with the 86hp 1.5dci and a Megane estate with 106hp 1.5dci.
Daughter has Megane hatch with 86hp dci.

Not a single problem with any, and we've had the clio for over 5 years from only 198miles on the clock.

Clio seems sluggish in comparison but unbelievable economy

106dci feels no differrent to 86dci but is marginally more torquey and has 6 gears, (needed). Uses a bit more juice tho', closer to 55mpg on average as against 65.

Very comfy and relaxed especially on the motorways. My 106 is doing 64mph at 2000rpm in top.:T :T :T

It's my 1st non VX car for over 20 years and I'm well impressed.

Hate the Megane styling:rolleyes: , but the estate looks just like any other modern estate.
