Switching Gas/Elec with outstanding debt
Hi
I wonder if anyone knows if it is possible to switch provides if you paying montly for an outstanding bill.
For examlple we are paying a certain amount each month for gas and an amount on top of that for a previous bill - if I were to switch would the current provider want the whole of the outstanding amount paid at once?
Hope that makes sense.
Thanks

Any amount billed that remains unpaid for 28 days is considered a debt.
Suppliers can (and usually do) prevent you from switching whilst you have an outstanding debt.
So yes, the current supplier will probably want you to clear the outstanding debt before they allow you to switch away."Now to trolling as a concept. ....
