Are comparison sites worth the wait?

So I applied to switch my gas and electric over to Scottish Power, using moneysupermarket.com. It's been over a week now and not much is happening. I called moneysupermarket and they said it's a slow process and I just have to wait, it could be another 2-3 weeks before the customer services at Scottish Power are aware of my switch. If I had applied to Scottish Power directly the ball would be rolling already and the switchover would be much faster. People need to be more aware of how long comparison websites take to process applications, and consider whether the £30 cashback is worth the hassle.

Don't know if they are any good when looking for a Gas/Electric supplier, but i have just renewed my car insurance. Fords where i got the car from quoted over £300, 3yr old fiesta, fully comp.
Following Martins instructions this came down to £150, with Saga.
    I'll use the sites again.

When I did my switch with Energyhelpline I got a welcome pack through from the supplier (Scottish Power) in just over a week so not sure why it takes 2-3 weeks with moneysupermarket.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
