reduced Tax credits

I have just seen that our tax credits have been reduced this month by over £400  .
1 of our children has just left to go to Uni so I understand that part of the reduction.
IDoes anyone know if it is due to the fact that our 19 year old daughter left school in July? Shee had stayed on at upper school an extra year - she has a disability and receives DLA.
If this is the case it is difficult as we are still financially supporting her at home.
Anyone have any ideas re benefits she can claim? (will these affect our tax credits even further?)
Or are we still entitled? She is completing an online course before hopefully being well enough to go to Uni next year.
Thanks all,

My daughter left for Uni also last month, and I lost CB and CTC-I lost about the same amount as you so I think it is just what we lose tbh! £2,540 for a disabled child is the CTC you lose per annum plus the £12.55 per week Child benefit. You would also have lost the £1,020 extra severe disabled element if she qualified.
It is a huge drop and I'm not sure if there is any way around it to be honest
I meant to say-it is well worth you ringing them and going through your details as it may be they aren't fully aware of your difficult and complicated circumstances.Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0 -
Thanks SuziQ.
The breakdown helps but it does seem an awful lot of money to lose!!! Especially considering as she is still at home. Yes, she received the severe disabled element too.
I really need to know how we can claim benefits for her.0 -
Do you claim carers for her?
Do give them a ring,as I'm not sure which ctc you have lost-the child with dla,the one left for Uni or both!
When I said a while ago on here that I felt it was a huge amount to lose I was shouted down ,I was told I would save on food, heating washing etc. I honestly don't think they cost us anything like that and the majority of the ctc etc goes on the housing costs etc.Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0
