just a warning about lastminute(may be people on here already know)

when you buy something from them just before or after checkout they might ask you for an email address to get 10% off next purchase

if you do you are agreeing to signing up to a company called streetmax.com or highstreetmax.com where they charge you £14.95:eek:

millet sports do that too (i bought from them)and its £9.99:eek:

you have 30day days to cancel but if you have given an email address which you don't check regularly.

also details of this(i call it a scam)are in small print and many of us don't check realise( well i didnt)

i am surprised its not been on watchdog or other programs like that!!!

    full details below

    http://blogs.mirror.co.uk/investigations/2008/07/mysterious-credit-card-charges.html

i got my money back after getting in touch with both companies.

Thanks for the warning, there was a link "£10 cashback to signup with highstreetmax.com" which I did click, but it then took you to a dodgy looking registration page which I closed. Will keep a check on my CC bill.
  • If on the faintest chance I may get on the site tomorrow, are all the offer hotels in Britain or is there any overseas as well.

All the hotels today were in the UK. I'm guessing it will be the same tomorrow...

The hotel names themselves were 'secret' - you could select by location only. Certain locations (eg London) had several choices. Other areas I remember were Glasgow, Exeter, Bristol, Aberdeen, Brighton, Somewhere in Kent? Stratford, Cotswolds. Will try and recall some more.....

I think that the hotel name is only revealed once you have confirmed a booking. Hopefully some of the peeps who did get confirmations might pop back with more details for you.

ETA - Also had one in Edinburgh, Cardiff and I think Cheltenham?
  • St Albans, Middlesborough, S. Yorks (Sheffield?) Cheltenham, Nottingham, Heathrow, East Midlands, Shropshire, Cardiff.......

Whilst waiting on your cc bill, you should check both your inbox and junk folder for mail from highstreetmax.com or streetmax.com, open it, read it & then cancel any subscription. You probably are automatically signed up for it when you clicked on the link.

Most were for October and November. They were mainly odd dates scattered throughout both months on the hotels I looked at. I did see a hotel selling December and there was availability over Christmas but I don't remember which one.
