Are your children into anything in particular at the moment?

My 13 year old loves reading and the boys things don't really last that long so they need something they can't break

top trumps are good fun and it is something you can all play together, do compare prices though as some shops are much more expensive.

the entertainer toy shop have a "deal of the day" each day where an item is reduced to half price, we picked up a transformer toy for £10, they do a wide variety though so worth a look.

one of the sports shops - sport and soccer i think? had 5 footballs for £10, good ones, i've wrapped up one for our eldest son and the others are presents xx

Wilkinson have got some magic trick sets, I think they were about £1.00 each. Also how about joke toys - fake dog poo, etc, small boys always love this, and it's always they one they like to show off to their friends at school! Older boy is a bit harder, how about gadget type things, our pound shop had a voice recording pen. For your daughter you might like to try Claire's, I don't know if they're still doing them but they had their gift bags (bright pink and kept by the till) at £2.00 each, but they were buy 1 get one free, and contained 6 items: nail polish, bracelets, toe rings etc. The pound shops always seem to have various make up sets, and hair gels, and bits too.

How about visiting the local jumbles too, I know lots of people are sniffy about these, but often the clothes are really good quality - bought a whole load of Gap and Quicksilver stuff recently for my son, 10 originally very expensive items for £2.00 - obviously this only works if your children aren't too fussy, mine are used to wearing hand me downs, so think it's great when they haven't already seen a cousin or older friend wearing it!

Perhaps I'm lucky with my children, but there's rarely anything that they desparately want, so we often do little bits for them and then get a family pressie - trampolines have really come down in price if your budget will stretch and provide hours of amusement all year round. Otherwise I like ceebeeby's idea about the potters wheel. If you shop at Tesco you could always exchange some of your vouchers for a family day out, to be taken when the weather improves - the promise of a theme park trip excites most children!

Just trying to think of my son's stocking pressies - got bits like a cheap torch, whistle, second hand game for his PS2, bouncy ball, silly putty, book (from charity shop - everyone has a good clear out at this time of year).

Good luck and enjoy finding all the small and silly things that make Christmas, we all remember our stockings when we were children, but how many of us can really remember "big pressies".
GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£400

Have you got a Home Bargains shop near you? I get nearly all my stocking fillers from there, it is really cheap for some good stuff. There is a Home Bargains post on the forum.
If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in :D

If you are able to buy stuff of the internet get a hold of the play.com voucher from a thread on this site and order a dvd, book, game or CD for next to nothing. I ordered Elf on DVD for my godson this morning - it was £7.99 but with the £5 voucher I paid £2.99 including delivery, however there was loads of kids DVDs for stuff for around £5.99 - therefore costing £0.99! :j
