Childrens Presents on a Budget

Options
I'm not sure if this is the right thread. I have 3 children to buy for, i'm a single mum on benefit. At the moment i have got them two presents each made up of Art stuff and books. What else could i get them which is cheap but also beneficial to the kids whos ages are 13, 11 and 8?

Any ideas?

What about puzzles. Not the picture kind, the ones that needs use of the brain. It would keep them occupied whilst educating at the same time.....

Hawkins have lots of gift idea's. Also there is a free postage code within MSE somewhere.

    Good luck

    Hi kimberley,

Have you looked at the stocking fillers thread on the families board, there are lots of good ideas there. May I ask what sex the children are and how much you want to spend? It may help users to come up with more ideas.

There are some fab cheapies in Argos that come in lovely big boxes (horrid jokes £7.99, gross magic £9.99), also, some of the pound shops that are around do surprisingly fab things at just a pound .... Go onto the Argos website and check in their special offers section - you can usually get some brills bargains.

What about a prezzie that you can all share in that will be quite cheap (last year we bought a potters wheel for £4.99 from Argos) and had great fun making pots as a family!!

Can you knit? Remember how pleased Harry Potter was with his personal jumper ... what about a scarf each handmade by Mummy??

I told my kids they were only getting two prezzies each (8 & 12) so think really carefully what you want - and they were so excited (and changed minds millions of times) before they finally chose (although I have to say I wasn't working to a budget) and I have bought stocking fillers as above.

Hope this helps, and remember, the best Xmas prez kids can ever get is lots of love from those closest to them!!
  • Ebay is also good if you're shopping on a budget.

John Lewis are selling Lego Knights Kingdom for £2.99 each, anywhere else I have seen these they are £5.99. Although in boots you can buy two at £5.99 each and get one free but this still works out more expensive. My son informs me that these are the new Knights Kingdom, they are in the tall slim boxes.
  • as already said, ebay is a must. I'm on a tight budget as hubby is on long term sick. we have 3 girls and i have used ebay for almost all the pressies.
  • Are your children into anything in particular at the moment?
