Am I sad for doing this?

Hi peeps,
Just though Id see if anybody else does the same so i dont seem too geeky
After payday is great because you can login to your online accounts and see the credit card balance go down every month and when you pass a big marker, ie knock a thousand off a loan or something, you get all excited about it ?
Or, is it me just being sad

SS - You really made me larf!!Mortgage-free wannabe!0 -
I like mortgage day
and I update monthly on a spreadsheet the amount of capital we have paid off to date
.
However, because we have only made 3 payments - on a repayment mortgage - so far we haven't paid back much capital yet
.
x LeiaI want to be a good saver, but I find it difficult to control my temptation to spend
.
I owe £1,247 more than I have in savings

Amateurs!
Get yourself an offset mortgage, daily interest calculation spreadsheet and pay in extra cash 2 or 3 times a week - then you'll learn what sad really is!!!!!
Also vie with your partner to pay in coppers and amend your % split of your total equity (both see it as a long term business partnership - too cynical for words!). Currently he has more equity than me but every £1 I pay in gets me £3.48 equity - beat that as a return rate!
ps. - paid in £90 (BOTH OUR MONEY) today - knocked a week off repayment date if it stays in there:j
still 10 years away though:doh:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
Mortgage Balance = £0

I am joining the "sad" gang, I'm sorry to say.
Have just set up a spreadsheet and every time I pay money off the credit card, the balance goes down. Have been paying money off the card, each time I get my expenses paid for work, and am enjoying seeing the debt reduce.
But yes, I feel sad and yes, my partner, says its sad, but hey ho, if it means that it encourages me to pay off the debt, who cares!Nice Shoes & Expensive Designer Handbags, are my downfall!0 -
I've been sad for 3 years now. I've been running an Excel spreadsheet of all my (im)balances and update them daily. Very satisfying.Happy chappy0

Hi - New to this MSE Forum - Have to agree though! Have a spread sheet with savings v's mortgage debt, and love updating it! Very sad! but not long to go now. Approx 5K to go before we have enough money to pay our house off. wooo -hoooo!!!! can't wait until we are totally debt free!!!
Friends think I am sad for doing it, but feel its really important.0
