Wednesday 1/10/08 What small dfw things have you done today???

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Hi to any new posters and a big shout to the usual gang:j

Today I will:
  • Check online banking
  • see if any clicks
  • storecupboard tea and lunch, using up some reduced organic sweetcorn and peppers I bought yesterday for 25p:D
  • make a loaf in breadmaker
  • Go for swim and jacuzzi to use gym membership
  • Need to do lots of paperwork sorting and shredding which will then be added to compost bin
  • Sort out some stuff for charity shop collection
  • Find two birthday presents and cards from my stash:D
Have a good day everyone, absolutely chucking it down here again this morning:rolleyes: but t least I don't have to go anywhere - one perk of living and working in same place;)

    Hiya all

    - I have a mystery shop to do
    - clicks and surveys
    - submit money claim online against my ex-landlady to try to get deposit back. eeek! (Havent been able to afford the fee up to now so she probably thinks I'm not pursuing it!)

    and Batgate buyer has just given me some inspiration. I will also:
    - update spreadsheet of charge reclaims
    - do a letter to Halifax regarding all the charges I've had since last claim
    - Send letter before action to GE money

    Bought cat food at the self-service in Tesco using 1 and 2 pences (needs must!)
    Tried to chase up my £24.00 worth of expenses but apparently Finance don't work the last week of the month so won't get it until Monday at the earliest (so looks like I'm walking home tomorrow and Friday);
    Chased up those long awaited 2,500 piggy points from Petplan in June;
    Typed a letter to Natwest requesting my bank charges back;
    Amended my original complaint to the Financial Ombudsman to include Sainsburys PPI cover.
    Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

  • Hi Guys
    Man its wet and windy here - can't imagine how bad shetland will be gulp!!

    Anyway paid today woo hoo
    Paid rent (had to shut eyes as the amount is very scary)
    Transferred rest to savings account to pop back when needed
    Home made lunch in suitcase, might try and get some hot water at sheltand airport?! - whole day in field with no cup tea, not good.
    Hotel tonight, hmm that means spending on tea etc I guess
    9 days left to clear my egg balance, thus far no money transferred hummmmm

    Tea out for the kiddies, and brother :)
    Taken car to garage
    Todays not looking like a no spend day really is it??????
    Been roped onto the 'waste management' committee at the college - suddenly I seem to actually know a bit about what I am talking about - although to be honest its just good MS sense - they seem really amazed at my ideas (doh - switch of lights when not in room? not rocket science) I did however confess to this site rather than keeping mum and basking in my new found money saving sensibleness!!!

    Have fun and morning to those around and those who follow
