 Grrrrrrrrr!!
Back in August I ordered a DS console from the Great Universal catalogue. It never arrived.
As advised I waited a couple of weeks, then rang and re-ordered it.
That one came and was signed for.
I received a letter from GU asking me to sign and send the letter back to state I had not received the original console which I did. My account was then credited with the amount.
I received another letter from them a couple of weeks ago, saying they had got in touch with their carrier, who claims I DID receive the original console and signed for it on the 23rd September.
There was a copy of my signature (which WAS mine) but there is no way on earth I signed for anything on the 23rd Sep as I was working all day!
There were no details or date on the copy of my sig, JUST my signature.
I had ordered quite a few things in July/August and had received and signed for them.
It looks to me like the carrier has given them ANY one signature I have made when I have received other parcels, because I never signed for anything on that date.
I remember the 23rd Sep like it was yesterday because we went on holiday on the 24th so I remember every little detail of the 23rd such as working all day from 8.30 - 6, then going on a sunbed, then going shopping etc etc
I've had to write back to them disputing what they are claiming....which they haven't received as I've just rang them now to see what has happened about it all.
I'm going to get another copy of my letter out to them in the morning which I will send with tracking (RD or SD).
Is it just me, or is something untoward going on here???
Like I said before, the copy of my signature could be an old one of mine.
Why wasn't there a date on the copy of my sig?????
I am soooooooo ruddy angry I could burst!

hmmm, sorry to hear of your troubles. Did you get a full copy sent to you of the alledged delivery record? If not ask for it. There should be a date on it. If not how do they say it was the 23rd?
They are going to have to show it was the relevant item that you signed for.
I dunno, how about adding up all the items you had delivered by this company and asking them for all those sigs.0 -
Hi Wig,
Didn't get a full copy but have asked for one in the letter that was/is being re-sent.
I don't know where on earth they get the 23rd from, I didn't and couldn't have signed for anything that day as I wasn't at home.
One lady I spoke to asked me if I was sure nobody else had signed for it while I was working????
Like, Helloooooo, why would they sign MY name? LOL
I will ask for all the signatures I have made in the last 6 months, they must have at least 5 of them!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
How are the signatures usually taken? Pen and paper, or is it these LCD screens with the light pen? (These Biometric signatures are very difficult to forge, so may be worth checking to see). I had a few problems once with a flower delivery, they got stolen and the delivery company said they were delivered but they told us a c and bull story, just didn't add up. The flower store ended up being out of pocket etc and some sod got my flowers.
Anyway, if you do get a copy of the delivery notes etc I would see if there are dates/times etc on them. The cataloge company must have given you an idea of when the goods would be delivered, if they were delivered after this time you then you are within your rights to refuse the delivery due to them being in breach of contract.
Some info on the two links below that may be of interest.

If you can get a time of when the goods were supposedly delivered, do you have a witness to say you were not at home to receive the goods as you were elsewhere. I would contact the CAB to see where you stand with this. Perhaps consumer Direct etc.

You were at work when the parcel was supposedly delivered, yes? Witnesses at work surely. Salon you went to etc. They can check back records.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -
That;s a good point about those electronic screens you sign on...I HATE them my signature is never going to be "normal" on one of those things.0

It was on one of those LCD things.
It was my sig and my printed name (well first initial of first name and my surname) underneath.
It definitely was my sig, it would be very hard to copy it cos it's more like a squiggle.
Work can verify I was there and the sunbed place would have my name and the time I went on the bed in their records as I saw her write these on her sheet when I went in (hopefully they keep records for longer than a couple of months).
Thw weird thing is, I ordered the original one in August, can't remember exact date right now although I can check that on my account online BUT the console that was received and signed for was received AFTER the 23rd September.
It was delivered in between the 24th and the 8th October, as this was the 2 weeks we were on our hols for.
My Dad was staying here for those 2 weeks and it was him that signed and took delivery of it, so if anything is showing on their records for the DS being signed for, it shouldn't even be my name, it should be my Dads! He can't remember the exact date it was signed for as I've asked him.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
They must have a time logged for the sig. Keep us updated when you get a copy.0
