P11d when leaving company to join another

Options
Could I just check something please.

My husband had his last day with his current employer today. He had a company car and healthcare that would go on the P11d.

His 2 previous jobs over the years have always issued a p11d to him on the last day irrespective of what time of year it was.

Anyway the accountant for this company has said he cannot issue one till the end of 08 tax year is that correct?

My worry is that one will never appear at the end of they tax tear, as it has not gone down too well that he has decided to leave and things have been made as awkward as possible for him the last few weeks.

Thanks

  • My P11d has always followed, at the end of the tax year in which I left. So if I left in June 208 I wouldn't expect to get my P11d until May/June/July 2009.

Many companies operate payroll software which simply runs the P11ds at the end of each tax year.

It doesn't really matter - provided he gets one - as he doesn't need to put it on his tax return until April 2009 and he has until December 2009 to file his return.
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)

Thanks, we were just not sure if they were being funny about issuing one.

Possibly ;) But I don't think so. Just remember to chase them up next year. The deadline for submitting P11ds to HMRC is ....??? I think it's 5 July. I guess OH will remember next year when he does his tax return and - if his P11d hasn't turned up by then - he'll get in contact with them ;)

Deadline was 6 July this year. Expect it will be the same in future.
  • Will he have company car and healthcare at the new job? it may be worth him contacting his tax office to let them know of changes as could affect his tax code for this year
