Hi I have been reading this forum for months but never registered til now. I've been addicted to the debt-free threads
Not too sure where to post this so if its in the wrong place I'm sorry.
I can't seem to find the answer on the web so was wondering if one of you nice people can help.
My husband is currently working 25-30 hours a week and we get tax credits, Child Benefit and a small amount of HB (privately rented).
He is very unhappy in his job and has been off with depression from there for 3 months. After seeing counselors he decided to try to go back and get a routine again to see if things improved. They haven't. It's making our home life horrible and we end up bickering about how I apparently don't understand.
I am currently a stay at home mum but doing avon, paid surveys etc to get some extra income. ( I was working full-time until DD was born she is now 2 and a half)
I am looking for a fulltime or partime job with so far not much luck being able to work one around my daughter, but will ofc keep trying ( i have an interview tomorrow)
Now my prob is that my OH is threatening to just quit regardless of whether i have a job or not because he is so depressed and things just getting worse.
I know that he wont be entitled to any JSA or anything for 20 (?) weeks but what would happen to me and DD? Will we still be able to claim anything for us to live on? The only thing I get in my name atm is the child tax credits and CB which works out at about £56 a week.
I'm really trying my best to get him to stay there for now but it's like hitting my head against a brick wall.
Would I keep the benefits in my name? Would I get IS or anything even though I dont get it now? Plz if anyone has some info that would help it would be greatly appreciated good or bad.

I think he needs to keep at the job tbh.Has seen doctors/tried medication for the depression? He would surely be better to be signed off sick again than just quit,as this doesn't consider the needs of his family at all.
You may need to try for a job for which you can claim child care costs through the ctc/wtc benefit, although I think if he is home they would probably expect him to look after her. Unless he has been properly diagnosed it would be hard for the benfit people to assess him properly for benefit.Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0
