Is it safe to save in Northern Rock

Would people recommended putting savings with Northern Rock at the minute, I've heard it is one of the safest places at the minute with it being government owned, but wante dto know what people thinik?
We'd be talking anywhere up to the £35k limit but not sure how much to put in there.
Any help would be gratefully received!

1) They are 100% protected up to the maximum amount of 250k
2) The sneaky little gits have just reduced their savings rates by a quarter of 1% (Even though the B.O.E haven't reduced the interest rates) because they can do as thousands of savers sought sanctuary (including me)
3) They can F.R.O and I have in the last week removed 100k on that principle, the greedy, un-loyal gits that that are

NR's e-saver account is "currently unavailable" at the mo, according to their website. I wonder if they are reaching their limit for deposits?0

The last time I looked fixed rate bonds were 6%, while not an excellent rate, it's not that bad either! And are all deposits not protected in NR?Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0
