I have recently swapped supplier from British Gas to npower which im regretting because its messed everything up with direct debits etc. Basically some guy knocked on my door and i got led down the garden path!
Anyway i have had a final bill from bgas and ive been charged
£101.32 for 40 days electricity, £2.50 a day!
is it just me or is that quite high bill?
Its an actual reading from my meter, things have gone up so much and im starting to wonder how long i can keep hold of my house for before i miss a mortgage payment. But big fat Gordon Brown has done jack to help the working class people that pay the taxes so he can dish out the money to people and yet what do the working class get? £3.80 tax credits i get a week! As you can see it doesnt even pay the elec bill!
Kind regards nick

We read your meter
01058
29 Jul 08
Estimate
First 26kwh £5.82
Next 189kwh £19.83
01058
30 Jul 08
Estimate
01642
10 Sep 08
Final Meter Reading
First 59kwh £13.95
Next 525kwh £61.72
Total £101.32
Does that look right? Ill check my meter see what the reading is now! Some guy came round but he said he was from npower to check the reading to start the new supply so im assuming npower told bgas my final reading?£10 a day - Sept 08 £245/£3000 -
22 Jul - 10 Sep = 687kwh over 7 weeks
= 98 units a week; 14 a day
Seems reasonable to me.0 -
thanks put they had my direct debit set up for £35 a month which would not cover that!£10 a day - Sept 08 £245/£3000

This is why many people fall foul its only when they leave they sometimes find out they have in all that time paid for estimate readings and of course there DD haven't covered it.
This can easily be resolved if you read your meter regularly and inform the supplier rather than rely on estimate bills. Pay a realistic DD payment too, its no good joining any new company and paying a unrealsitic amount per month.
14 units a day isnt bad I use 16-17 for a semi with 4 people0
