I've been on mine for two years now and it was the best thing I ever did.
I felt completely depressed with my debt, dealing with a new baby and a very poorly hubby. CCCS made it all seem so simple and more importantly...so NORMAL! I didn't feel a freak or a failure. They were amazing.
And they still are. My DMP has been great (so far). I have quite a few years left but at least I feel positive about paying my debt off.
Don't get me wrong...its doesn't make your life EASY. Just easier. I'm still brassic a lot of the time but at least I know I'm in credit with the bank (changed banks as overdraft included in my debt), that I'm not running up more and more debts every month and that very slowly my debt is decreasing.

All seems quite positive so far then. I must say we been relieved to finally start the process.
I think cccs do the online thingy too, so it will be good to see my debt reduce. Nothing with Lloyds thankfully as they seem quite bad!

Thanks totallybrassic for this really useful and interesting thread. I always find loads of good advice from this site and have found it a godsend at times but it is really good to hear the experiences of people who are long term dmpers.
My own DMP has just started and even at this stage i feel so much better even though I am still getting hassle off my creditors, now its just easier to deal with.:TDMP Support Thread Member 238DMP started October 20080 -

:hello:I just wanted to say thank you for setting this thread up too. I am about to start my own DMP with Payplan and it is great to see the stories from those that are 12 months plus ahead of me. I had my Light Bulb moment about a month ago and reading the forums have been a great inspiration and made me realise that this isn't only happening to me.
Good luck to everyone on their DMP journey whether just starting like me or well on the road to paying their debts offSealed Pot Challenge Member 015 - Target £50 (2015=£70; 2014=£74.40; 2013=£61.76; 2012=£82.50)

I have been doing my own DMP and it's worked ok for me the creditors stopped the interest and the plan has been running along really well ( fingers crossed nothing untoward happens now) I have managed to claim back some of my bank charges. The BOS paid up on my visa card and the charges on my overdraft.:j Capitalone seem a tough nut to crack I'm working on them just now. I have also requested my charges back from Egg Loan and Egg Card and also for G E Money still waiting to hear from them. I buried my head in the sand for so long then I discovered this site I just lurked and never posted till now. But I followed threads and took the advice that was given to other people. I will get round to posting my SOA when I have a little more courage and knowledge of the site . I'm so glad I found this I can now sleep at night.:TNot going to bury my head in sand any longer

It's very interesting to hear how DMP's run..
I have now gotten my head around the fact that it isn't shameful to be on a dmp..it's about admitting that something has to give, and if it's huge interest filled payments on your unsecured credit then so be it!
I feel positive for the future for the first time in over a year!
Thanks and good luck to all my fellow newbies
