Hi
I am thinking about getting a PDA and would like to be able to use it as a GPS. I'm totally ignorant of all of the related technology, so would be extremely grateful if someone could demystify the whole thing for me.
What I want to know is:

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I am thinking about getting a PDA and would like to be able to use it as a GPS. I'm totally ignorant of all of the related technology, so would be extremely grateful if someone could demystify the whole thing for me.
What I want to know is:
- what kind of price should I be expecting to pay for the cheapest compatible PDA to use for GPS purposes?
- what kind of price would the accompanying GPS hardware be?
- what else is needed? (eg software, etc)
- would there be connection charges involved?
- if the above is true, would I need an account with some kind of provider?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

I use a PDA bluetoothed to a TomTom system. It works well in the main - no connection charges, no account necessary. It was expensive though (around £500 two years ago but the company paid!) and if the PDA baterry goes completely flat you have to reload your TomTom software (and other software too!).
If you only require sat nav then a stand alone would probably do but I've only got experience of my set up....Apparently, if you lose one sense, others senses are enhanced. That's why those who have no sense of humour have an enlarged sense of self-importance.0 -
