Is it cheaper to heat up water using oil for dishes or using dishwasher?

    Probably cheaper to wash up for most stuff. However, the difference is less if you rinse dishes in clean hot water. Also if, like me, you change the water a couple of times for a big load.

    I use my dishwasher every day but wash up big things like pans. I've never bothered with rinsing which horrifies some people.
