Hey Sophiesmum
WELL DONE that is very inspiring I think I might start to save my £2 coins now.
Your daughter will love the trip I went to Normandy and visited the war graves and a number of museums when I was doing my GCSEs and it was very interesting and moving - it must feel nice that you can do this for her without having to dip into your budget - big thumbs up!!0 -
OH MY GOD! How many months is that over? Well done you!! :T :T
How is everyone doing there next year budgets, how do u all no how much will be spent on bills etc? Does anyone know how much tv licence is next year?
Hi Mumzy,
That is about 10-12 months, the one we opened last year had £1000 in it:p but we haven't been spending as much this year:rolleyes:, the £2 coin obsession was picked up by the family who gave us some gift wrapped as birthday pressies too:rotfl: - works for me:p0 -
Cool, nice one Sophiesmum :T I save most of my shrapnel but saving a specific coin ie the biggest one
looks the way to go! My mum saved 20ps to take us on a trip of a lifetime when I was a teenager - go Mum! :T
Hope tooth gets better soon Marru, Monday any good?
Thriftylass, no worries, not taken wrong way at all.
Great work with the budgets :T I'll have another go at mine soon as my recent attempt was beyond poor :rotfl:The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

TV licence increases from £139.50 to £142.50 in 2009, and up to £145 in 2010.
I'm working on £145 for next year as it's a "round" figure -- plus I pay by DD so 6 months in advance and 6 in arrears, meaning I'm already paying the £142.50 price now (licence due end March), and will be paying the £145 rate from Sept/Oct time......Cheryl0 -

Thanks to all of you who already posted their budget plans for next year. I've only been testrunning this challenge for two weeks now, so my budget plan will probably have to wait at least till the end of October (or better even November) when I get a real idea where my money goes and I identify where I waste money (thought I was rather good, which is sort of true for things like groceries, but I fritter away to much on little daily things). But your budgets gave me a good idea on how to divide the spending and how much is needed for certain items. Thanks a lot, in this short time here I learned so much. :j
I've also been reading through other threads, like old school saving, batch cooking and similar. I love it. I've always been very aware of finances (although I hated keeping a pocket money diary as a kid) but it slipped a bit. Since starting here I actually started putting my plans (love making list and plans and don't feel so silly about it anymore) into practice again rather than just making them. I'm so looking forward to next year, I really feel this little community will also help me to keep focused and stick with it. I also really enjoy the mixture of people and backgrounds I encounter here, puts things into perspective and gives me an idea, for instance, what things will be like once we have a wee one.xx:TDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

Good evening all,
I also am suffering from tooth ache. The slight nagging flared today into cruciating agony. I have number to call tomorrow morning and there is a very strong chance that I can get it sorted tomorrow. Meanwhile off to get some painkillers.
Had a very weird call today. Will get back to that later... as need to go now
Hope the toothache is better Marru, mine is just a dull pain right now, hopefully it will go away when I go to bed, it was agony yesterday and has been okay for most of the day. Get toothache free soon, we will soon have a smile like this:D

660 post already - wow!
I'm going to do a £2 pot next year, great idea.
I also dig a bit of lotty after work if I have the energy. I'm determind to increase the grwing area for next year. I also want a space for autumn raspberries to extend the soft fruit season
Half term next week so tonight I cleaned the house so I don't waste my holiday
Plan for the week:-
Monday - go into school to sort out and catch up
Tuesday - planning for next half term
Wednesday - visit Garden Organic at Ryton and have lunch there
Thursday - DIY, not sure what yet (lots to choose from)
Friday - Devon for the wekend
holidays go too quick.
Still trying to get DH to at least be a little aware of MSE. He bought Faggots for tea - nice and cheap I thought - but then he started to cook best 'butchers sausage' to go with them. He didn't like the sausage so gave 5 1/2 to the cats. Cats were already full so pigged out and one was promptly sick on the carpet.
Going to Lidl on the way home tomorrow as it's right next to work.Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0
