  • Happy Birthday Skint Lynne! :j

Sophiesmum, where did you get the big piggy from? He's lovely :D

He is actually supposed to be a garden ornament:o he was in tesco last year for about £12 and I thought he was so cute, when they reduced him to £4 i bought him and OH drilled a money slot in it for me, he is hollow inside - so sort of a sealed fat piggy pot:D

I saw same pig at B& Q recently just a tiny bit smaller for about £7:D Mine lives on top of microwave waiting for donations:rotfl:

Faraway Tree (and Enchanted Wood) were good -- but I loved The Wishing Chair (and The Wishing Chair Again)

Loved those too, had most of the Enid Blyton stuff - no wonder I was always off in a dydream somewhere with all these books.:j One of those chairs would be really handy though for frugal travel:D

  • I am happy to say that for my 27th birthday in April, my sis bought me The Magic Faraway Tree! My favourite book ever! Also, today my mum went through her loft and handed over the whole series of Malory Towers, St Clares and Chalet School books! I shall be reading those in the first couple of weeks of maternity leave when I have nothing else to do (yeah right!!!)

Have been trawling amazon and found The Wishing Chair audio book which is now earmarked for my step daughters christmas pressie :) She will read/listen to proper books if it kills me!!!

I always wanted to get sent to boarding school after reading those books, and I asked every xmas for a trunk and a tuckbox:rotfl: I never got one:p

Look after the Chalet School ones..... I listed some tatty copies (creased spines, marked covers, names written in them -- and crossed out) on eB*y some years ago (probably around 1997) -- and some of the titles went for really silly prices. Started them off at something like 5p, and I think the dearest went for just over £80

Apparently a lot of the titles are out-of-print and very highly sought after! A couple of those and a F@buland (junior L3go) video bought a Gameb0y colour (plus a few games) for the kids, plus my first ever digital camera.

This is why you give everyone lovely hampers filled with goodies, they are tuck boxes of sorts!!! Look what I have started, this thread is full of Enid Blyton fans!!!
