Afternoon All,
1stly hugs and 'chin-up's' to all that need them.
It was my 1st week of practise for next year and already gone pear-shaped, had to take one of the moggie's to the vet on Monday - £406 altogether so only spending £75 went out the window!! He is insured but they'll only pay for about half
Plus side is that I stopped smoking on Sunday, so have already saved myself a few quid this week. Anyhoo, am going to try again starting this Friday, and going to try £60 per week until xmas. Hitting Aldi tonite for cheapest veg to make myself stews and soups for next week so no buying lunch at work. Am determined to do this, really wanna get my debts paid off by this time next year.
have a good eve all

Well, Mum is OK. Discharged back to the Home at 6am. When I got there at 10.30 she was sleeping and they had her all snuggled up in a cosy blanket.
She has a massive bruise on her forehead but seems a lot more settled today so I feel better as well....but very tired.
Going for a lie down on the settee and then I'm going to make soup with a load of vegs I got in Aldi yesterday. I tried to get a lamb shank at the local butchers but the were sold out.
However, I do have some chicken bits in the freezer and home-made stock so that will feed me for a week :j
Thanks to all my frugal friends for good wishes :A0 -
((hugs)) for the puddy tat.... hope he's more his normal self now !!
with regard to animal expenses..... did you know you can order flea and worming treatments over the Internet for a fraction of the cost from a vet! we have 2 dogs (one 'large' and one 'small' in terms of frontline), and the frontline and drontal for the next 12 months has just set me back £71.46 instead of £154.48 -- and it was ordered around 3pm and arrived recorded delivery the next day !! I was well impressed at the delivery as well as the savingCheryl0 -
glad to hear your Mum doesn't appear too much the worse for wear after last night Janey, but I'm sure you're feeling better now you've seen her
Good to hear she seems to be settling in as well
sounds like we're all hitting Aldi for the veg this week -- I picked up one each of the 39p items (apart from the potatoes) for us, and the same again for DD this morning !! Realised half way home I should probably have taken my shopping trolley instead of bags, as I could feel it all pulling on my back :eek:Cheryl0 -
I think it'll all be OK with the house. I rang the estate agent earlier and they had a chat to the owner. It seems they haven't even got probate yet so they can't actually sell the house until that's settled, and that will be probably 4 weeks. Estate agent recommended getting quotes for the work that's highlighted in the survey after the probate goes through, so that delays everything by another couple of weeks - and hopefully by then the whole Icesave mess will be sorted out!Live on £11k in 20110

All sounds promosing Lynda, but I think you've done the right thing in letting them know now. They'd be less likely to give you some lee-way if you decided to drop it on them after they got probate and started wanting to agree a date. These things work both ways, and it sounds like you're not putting them under pressure for a date that they can't commit to eitherCheryl0

((((Hugs)))) Janey (and anyone else who needs one). I hope both you and your mum are ok...
All these money troubles are beginning to get to meI just want to save what I can and have access to my money and for it to be safe. Is that too much to ask?
I hope todays financial news helps stabilise things. I had hoped to do up my bathroom in the next few months (BADLY needed... its only just functional and I've put up with it for almost 6 years now and it wont hold out much longer) but I'm now getting jittery about spending this money (I should finally hit my savings target for it before Xmas). I'm just aware that I have a job now but I know things will be uncertain in a year or 2 as all the funding bodies in my sector will be horribly skint due to the stock market turmoil
(there is usually a year or 2 lag after major events eg post 9/11 stock market turmoil)...
Anyone feeling cheerful today? Any good news?Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Hi guys!
Siannielaz & thriftylass - I stopped smoking for this challenge and am banking the money every single day, as per my signature. Mumzy, if you are about - how are you doing with the quitting smoking? I was in the quit smoking challenge but umm... [STRIKE]left[/STRIKE] felt obliged to leave?
Went to look at another house today but need to wait and find out exactly when it will become available and if we would be suitable as tenants. Estate agent has estimated a week to find out, so I guess that's another week of waiting! I did, however, feel 'at home' when I walked in, so I'm hoping it's a good sign. Had a bit of a laugh en route home and DS has just left the room shaking his head in disbelief.... I stopped and picked up a hitch hiker.
In my defence, I did recognise the guy - or, at least I THOUGHT I DID until he jumped into the car. That's when I realised I'd been mistaken and hadn't a clue who the bloke was. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: But it's amazing what you can learn about someone over the space of 7 miles of incessant chatter! Turned out his cousin used to be my next door neighbour! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Don't worry, I won't make a habit of picking up strange men and then trapping them in the back of the car because the child locks are on!I'm guessing that OH2B must know by now what he's getting himself into when we get around to moving house!
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Err... Somerfield have wine at £2.99 a bottle, does that count? It's good news for me as I have a nice bottle of red wine to drink with my dinner, thought I needed a bit of a treat!
Also had a good laugh when I slipped over at work today - tried pulling a pallet truck out from under the pallet I'd just moved, but my feet moved instead and I ended up sitting on the floor feeling very silly :rotfl:Live on £11k in 20110
