Shaz: what a wonderful place! Makes me want to pack my bags and hop into my car in the search of view like that.
I may have gilded the lily slightly
to get to the lake we had to go through a place called Honiton pass a really narrow steep road ....................i don't do heights ..................i was terrified and when we finally arrived and i ungripped my fingers from the car seat ...................i threw up in the car park:o:o:o
Hubby since told me he nearly changed his mind.......................
t least he knows i really am scared of heights before then i think he thought i was faking it

To those thinking of doing a PGCE - be really sure it's what you want to do. That's not to put you off at all, I'm completely biased and love teaching but the PGCE is a really hard year and you almost certainly won't put up with the carp that comes with the job unless you love what you do. Hope that doesn't sound negative, just my honest view of the profession.
We had a fantastic time at rally driving today! It was in Chipping Norton Lynda and OH LOVED it. He won Best Driver of course (he wins everything ) and I even got a passenger ride with a professional - I thought I'd be scared as I now get anxiety in cars from my illness but I loved it too!Def a lot of fun I'd say; book direct with them and it's £50 cheaper so PM me if you're interested. Luckily I paid for OH's entirely with Piggy points so it was free
Great stuff about the boyfriend too Lynne, sounds perfect! When's the interview?
Lots more to say but ought to spend some time with OH. Have a great night all xThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

we could go to the same place! :rotfl:

Sorry, don't want to sound too negative but I've heard that most newly trained teachers find it hard to find full-time employment, although that might depend on the region you live in and the subjects you want to teach (some like science are more in demand than others). I was considering that as an option in a few years time because if it happens that I'm out of my job for a few years because of having a few kids in quick succesion it's hard to get back into it at the level I'm now, but at the moment I'm dismissing that option up here.To those thinking of doing a PGCE - be really sure it's what you want to do. Sorry, didn't want to put you off, if that's what you want to do, honestly, go for it. All the best.
Isn't that heresy from a scot?:rotfl: I thought bagpipes were something created just to inflict pain on the English:rotfl:Probably! I must have inherited the inability to cope with nearby pipers gene from the English corner of my family tree

I've only been gone for part of a day and I've just had to read 3 pages to catch up - and then promptly forgot everything that I'd just just read!
Welcome to the thread twinkle_star, I've added your name to the list on post one. I can't remember if I've added Cat-addict, but hello & welocme to you too. It's always good to hear how others percieve our little frugal communityOr perhaps that should be frugalunity! :rotfl:
I've spent all afternoon at the new house. I got a couple more cupboards washed out, curtains washed, almost dried and hung, found pretty good vinyl under the (yuk) carpet I pulled up in the bathroom; that scrubbed up really well, so that's more savings, as I had been thinking I'd need to buy flooring for there and the kitchen. Kitchen has scrubbed up fine too. :T Like the true frugalite that I am, I read the meter in the new house yesterday when we first went in and then again tonight before leaving. Considering it includes storage heating on all last night plus 2 tanks of hot water, dehumidifier and fan heater to help dry floors, carpets & curtains; by my estimations, we could save over £50 per month when comparing costs to here. :j
My free clock/thermometer arrived this morning from Carboncreditz, so I'm doing OK for freebies this week, what with the moving box of brand name goodies and the arrival of my Mr T vouchers, plus the points came through for joining mymove.com (from where I received the free homemover's box of goodies).
The freezer is emptying quickly now, I can see the bottom of it! I reckon that by Tuesday/move day we'll be down to just apples, peppers, mushrooms and chicken stock. We're going to just move the freezer with what's left remaining inside it, as it'll only take 15 mins to move and a couple of hours standing time before switching it back on. It's lasted 2 hours during power cuts no problems, so it should be fine. Roll on the completion and opening of Ald!s in the nearby town!I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Good evening frunchkins:D
Nyk - sounds like the new house will cut down on your utility bills loads:j must be a relief after the cost of trying to heat your current place. Love the term "frugalunity" think it sums us up nicely:rotfl: :rotfl:
Quiet night here just chilling and watching x factor earlier and have just had a major shredding session, amazing how much paperwork mounts up if you take your eyes off it for a while:o anyway now have a bag full to add to the compost bin tomorrow;) Need to make a loaf in morning as no bread in house and have used the bit I had in freezer today.
DD is hobbling about feeling sorry for herself with her sore leg , her leg is now covered with pen circles so the doc can judge how the infection is spreading - looks like a load of contour lines:rolleyes: . Seems to have finally stabilised and hopefully tomorrow should start to reduce.Luckily she was up to date with tetanus jabs etc.
Hope you have all had a good evening:D0 -

Hi Cat Addict ..me too, I have 4.
And hello igiveup. I think your name is OK becuase it fits in well with frugal living as we have given up buying frivolous fripperies (well, some of the more dedicated frugallers have)
I am still struggling with clothes.
I haven't bought any "new" clothes for weeks but as I can fit into normal sizes from any shop I choose for the first time in my life, I will be having a shopping spree when the sales arrive
I have 50 yrs of not being able to wear nice things to catch up on.Mum's Memory of the Day
As related before, Mum loved to cook and she liked to experiment. Luckily, I wasn't around to share the Lettuce Soup she made with that year's harvest. She was still clearing it up a few hours later because the top wasn't attached properly on the liquidiser.0
