Confused with my options of full/part time work...

I am currenty on maternity leave and due to go back to work at the beginning of December. I work shift work and I would have to travel 20 miles just to get to work so its not really an ideal situation, especially with the cost of petrol atm. I am looking for another job near where I live now. My dp is on about £16,000 but I don't really know what I would be best looking for: a part time job taking home about £12,000pa, or a full time job at £16,000. My dd would only need to be in nursery 4 days a week so would cost us about £100 a week. If I worked part time and only be slightly worse off, I would rather do that so I still spend time with my dd, but I have looked on entitled to but don't really understand what it has come back with in terms of credits  Any help/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Congrats on the bubs!

There is a child care element that covers 80% of Child Care Costs on Tax Credits - does your employer have child care voucher scheme?

Obviously will not tell you what to do! But what will the PT hours be? You may find petrol is more economical outside of rush hour times as there is less traffic about but do not know what the roads are like round where you live. I work part time so able to get me girl from school which I still like doing and maybe go FT when she is older and demanding more from me!- less money but hey ho she sees me at the gate every day.
Also helps me build up flexi time so when I need to take time off to play nursie if my girl is ill off school and that eases the worry about time off. Took a while to convince employer but they see the benefits when I can do extra hours from time to time.
