Hi
Due to 2 complete mental breakdowns both times being hospitalised am now on medication but at the moment unable to return to work but hoping to get that sorted asap.
I have just £127.50 to live on every fortnight. I do not receive anything else. I have to pay towards my rent and my council tax and am finding it very difficult to live. I have also been recently diagnosed as type 2 diabetic. Advice there is no processed foods minimum carbs plenty of meat and veg and fruit....then also I have my other bills to pay - utility, tv license etc. What can I do if anything .... my hair desperately needs cutting, I need a coat for winter (have tried the charity shops etc) and some other bits. Falling into trap of deepening depression so a lot of anxiety attacks. Thinking its just not worth going on.
Is there any other help out there?

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Hello Fuzzball, It sounds as if you are not receiving DLA? Do you have a CPN or someone who could perhaps guide you through applying for this? A lot of help is out there, stick with it - lots of people on here can help point you in the right direction. Re the immediate problems, the coat etc have you thought of applyinfg for a social fund loan?0

Hello
It is no more expensive to buy food which is suitable for a Type 2 diabetic. I know - my DH has been one since 1981 and his control is good, especially since he became an insulin-user in 1996.
We don't buy cakes, puddings, convenience foods and we don't have take-aways or the like. We do buy fresh fruit and veg. Just to give you an example, DH went to the local greengrocer this morning, got some fresh broccoli and baby potatoes. We've just had roast chicken (organic, from Tesco, £5.50, which makes us at least 2 meals - one roast, one cold with salad). So that chicken can last for £1.38 a meal. Plus some potatoes, broccoli, a tin of pineapple in natural juice and Greek-style yogurt. We eat well for a lot less than processed food would cost us.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

I only receive incapcity benefit. I am now (since last year) single I have a 17 yr old daughter who doesnt live with me. I save money by making my own soup, sauces, stews and casseroles. I do not buy packet food and the only tins in my kitchen have baked beans. I shop on the market going fairly late to grab even more bargains. I also do not eat takeaways not only the price to high but unknown salt content. I make my own stirfry and curry as I know then exactly what goes into my food. I am at this moment non medicating using weightloss and diet adjustment. I have lost over 2 stone.0

Are you absolutely certain that you aren't entitled to Housing and Council Tax benefit?
Good for you though on the food and looking after yourself front.Blonde: Unemployed: Bankrupt.
What do I know?0 -
you should be entitled to housing benefit. Best thing to do is to go to your local CAB office and tell them everything you get moneywise and they will tell you what you can claim for and maybe even help you to fill in forms and stuff, they were pretty good to us when we went through it.
Me and my partner only get that much each to live on, but we get housing benefit too, and he is on incapacity benefit.
HTH ;hugs:
i have pregnancy diabetes so i know what you mean!!!!Man who run into airport turn-styles is going to Bangkok
