Gas 3.77p kWh inc VAT
Elec 14.62p kWh inc VAT (London)
Are these prices pre, or post, rise?
Those are the current applicable rates (post-increase). Ebico actually updated their rates on the website at the same time as they published the announcement.
The announcement has been removed for some reason, but the prices are still those reflecting the price increase effective from 02-October-2008"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
The price rise announcement is still there, its the first item under 'Energy in the news' on the right hand side of Ebico's homepage. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

I left Ebico recently, and had 2 letters from Southern (one for gas and one for electricity) along the lines of "sorry you are leaving".
Haven't heard a thing from Ebico.
In the two years I was with them they still have not managed to sort out their direct debit "quirk". Seems daft, I know:rolleyes: to coin a phrase.0 -

It looks like they have now added it again to their news section - it wasn't there at all when I originally posed the question; the first item was that from 19.02.08. Nice to see they have put it back now"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Ebico use SSE for all their customer service liaison. Your letters from Southern would have been issued on behalf of ebico. Did you not notice in your 2 years you were with them that your bills are also supplied by Southern, albeit on behalf of ebico?
There's not a lot ebico can do about the DD quirk - it's an issue with Southern's computer billing system, not something ebico can correct themselves. Perhaps when Southern update their billing software, they will allow for no discounts for DD as per Ofgems recent recomendation?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... My feeling about ebico is in the long run I think the business model is unsustainable. It's clear that medium to high users are effectively 'funding' those low users and especally the ones who pay in 'unusual' ways. It's also clear that, after the last huge increase, many of these medium/high users would have switched away. Eventually, Ebico will be left with just low users and those who pay in 'unusual' ways - and I suspect the rate they get charged by SSE to deal with these customers would preclude Ebico from making their tariffs affordable even for these users.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -

I think its wrong to say "Your letters from Southern would have been issued on behalf of ebico"
From what was established on this forum a few weeks ago, EBICO are not a true supplier. The "Equipower" brand promoted by Ebico is another tarrif of Southern.0 -
What I dont understand is that earlier they/Ebico "pegged their price rises to SSE rises" yet SSE prices went up on 25th AUG and my bill showed price increase from 2/10 as stated in earlier posts, so I'm not complaining.
Re BG Click tariffs, so far they seem to have got ther act together for the moment. Those on Click 5 should change to Click 6 as they are getting seen off.
(PS I use Ebico for low useage reasons and BG Click elsewhere on price for high useage)ac's lovechild0 -

What I can confirm is that Ebico is an independent limited company listed as such at companies house, with their own management board. I remember someone got their accounts from companies house to discover the total they pay their directors; result is that their are no fat cats at ebico.
Ebico work in partnership with Scottish and Southern Energy (S&SE) as their licensed supplier, but they are not owned by SSE. Equigas & Equipower are both brands of Ebico, not SSE.
Therefore I think I am entirely correct in stating that "Your letters from Southern would have been issued on behalf of ebico"
Perhaps this quote from ebico's website will clarify matters further:Customer support
When you switch to Ebico, you’ll receive a welcome pack that bears the logos of both S&SE and Ebico. This will include details of the S&SE customer support phone line, and a phone service for customers to report their own meter reads, billing enquiry service and customer service line. You can also phone Ebico’s enquiry line at any time on 0800 096 6344. See also our contact numbers.
Your bills will also reflect the partnership of S&SE and Ebico. Find out more about payment methods or bills.
Edit: but then you know all this don't you? I remember you were posting negative comments in any ebico thread you could find last April about how you had a problem when they supplied you and you wanted to speak to someone at Ebico rather than someone at SSE as you claimed your issue not something the SSE customer service could help you with.
A typical thread can be found here:

I don't think you ever did explain what issue you thought you had that couldn't be resolved by the customer service team at SSE, but you were clear they are a different company."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

Of course I noticed. All I'm saying is that the first letter I got was from Ebico - before my details were passed to Southern. I would have thought I would have a final letter from Ebico, as it is Ebico I am leaving. Unless......Ebico is just another glorified tariff with Southern
The Ebico website used to say they are trying to get it sorted. Now it just admits it's a quirk. Perhaps they have given up trying to sort it out. I'm just a little disappointed that they did not try harder. After all, it is the DD customers they need to attract to subsidise the service for the prepayment customers.0
