Egg Money wine offer even better

Options
I'd been wondering about the Egg Money Wine offer advertised on their cashback page for a while - you get BOGOF crates of wine from Virgin and 20% cashback.

However having finally gone for it it turned out even better as on the confirmation page it said:
* Sign up to our Discovery Club now, and...
* We will put £50.94, which is 50% of what you have just spent, into your account right now
* You can spend that any time you like, and..
* As a member of our Discovery Club you are entitled to a case of sensational wines every three months
* We guarantee that these wines will cost less than £5 a bottle,
* And will have a saving of at least 10%
* We will write to you to tell you what is in your next case
* You can skip or cancel at any time
* There is no obligation WHATSOEVER to take any further cases
* Remember, buying from Virgin Wines is completely safe.
* If you don't like the wines, the service or anything else we will happily refund your money
So if I read that right I now have £50.94 to put towards the next case they want to send me which they guarantee will be less than £60. And having got it I can cancel the arrangement with no commitment to buy anything else.

So in total that's 3 cases of wine at roughly £2.50 a bottle! It's going to be a very merry Christmas!

IT's a very good offer especially if you get the payment of £50.94 back into your account. Will this still work if you have previously had wines from Virgin?

I'm not sure If that means I have already signed up to their Discovery club as quoted in your post ?

I had previously ordered wine from Virgin, though only to take advantage of an introductory offer.

Joining Discovery was presented as an option on the screen accepting my order. I had to press a button to say I wanted to go for it.

I am guessing it will be shown to anybody who has not already joined, but don't know for sure.

I can get as far as seeing that it costs £81.50 [after Egg Money cashback] for the two cases of wine....

Does the £50.94 go onto a virgin account balance or it is paid as EM cashback? [I would assume the former and not the latter]..

I read "less than £5 per bottle" .."and will have a saving of 10%" as the original price being £5 + 10% and there is no further discount below [say £4.99]. So a Discount club case ends up costing:

    (12 x £4.99) - the 'special price' minus £50.94 + £5.99 delivery = £14.93 From Virgin

And you get 10% cashback from Egg [or do you?] on this of £1.49...

So the extra case costs £13.44, I think...

    Total: £94.94 for 36 bottles = £2.64 each

[Please correct me if this is wrong]
.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam

Your maths is impecible, however we don't know the price of the upcoming case. I did a rough calculation based on £4.50 a bottle.

Perhaps it would have been more accurate to say under £2.65 per bottle for 36 bottles.

Not a bad deal however you look at it - as long as you are presented with the offer after ordering.

Membership of the Club is automatic and free of charge to all customers of Virgin Wines Online Limited ("Virgin Wines") who spend more than the Qualifying Amount of £350 in any 12 month period or less.

But where does it say anywhere that they will stick 50% of what you have just spent into your account??????

I filled out every bit as if I was going to buy some and saw no mention of the club at all.

You get the invitation to join the Discovery Club immediately after you have placed the order

My credit for the Discovery Club was only £47.94, though (after ordering the Egg BOGOF).

Also, I can't get back to that screen now, but I am sure it said "We guarantee that these wines will cost less than £7 a bottle" (not £5, as Reaper had a couple of days ago). Still a very good deal though!

EDITED: seems there is a "Discovery Club" and a "First Class Discovery Club" - with max prices/bottle £5 and £7 respectively. For some reason, I got enrolled to the 1st class club  - there wasn't any option I could tick. I also have, on top of the £47.94, a £25 promotional voucher sitting in my account now, not a clue where that comes from (I haven't ever ordered from Virgin Wine before).
