The Epson RX685 around £100 or was when I bought mine is a good all round printer/scanner

It also prints on to cd/dvd

Compatibles inks can be had for around £2-£3 each. Or £1.66 where I got mine for in bulk order

    review below http://www.pantherproducts.co.uk/Hardware/printers/RX685.html

    Comet has this for £100

You also need a usb lead a-b I think

If you need to buy a USB cable for the printer, get it from the pound shop!

I got an old HP laserjet 5p from freecycle. A community centre was going to throw it out because it was too slow for them. It's brilliant quality, the toner has lasted 2 years being used every week moderately. A little slow but I can live with it. Maybe worth considering, I see old lasers on freecycle all the time.

Did the Op get a new printer/scanner yet
  • Get yourself a second hand HP Laserjet 4000N from ebay - you can pick them up really cheap these days and the toner lasts forever - unless you have an office!!
Also that model can be networked and shared around your home via a hub/wireless router etc.
