I know a great company for advice and I am sitting in their office right at the moment
Please could you give me their name. I am desperately in need of some advice and I come to the site as I trust everything I read. I am sure that you would not give me details of a cowboy company.
Many thanks in advance.

I'm sorry, I can only [strike]spam[/strike] give you the company details if I was to create a new account and be a one post wonder. I would also have to create an uncompliant website and breach more FSA financial promotions rules as that would match the other [STRIKE]spams [/STRIKE] recommendations from one post wonders.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Aaaw that's a shame I thought he was cosha as well:rolleyes:
We do get some plonkers on here who must think we are all daft!0 -
Well, since the last thread, they have infact removed the word "independent" from the website front page which is a good thing. whether it was a result of that thread who knows.
As others have mentioned, you also have to be careful about the word "impartial" .I was always told this was another no no but you would have thought that if someone was reviewing the front page for compliance reasons then they must be aware it's borderline at best.
Anyway, they've changed it so someone must have realised there was a problem.

It still says, right in the middle of their Home Page, that they are 'completely impartial'. This implies independence and is covered in the FSA Rules in the link on _Andy_'s post. You can't 'impartial' unless you are independent.
This is their statement:We’re completely impartial, with access to over 11,500 different mortgages from 125 lenders including these below:
And when you look at the scrolling list of lenders they include lenders who do NOT deal with brokers, so how can they have access to them? They my be able to recommend that somebody takes the mortgage, but it doesn't mean they have access to it!I am a Mortgage Consultant and don't like to be told what I can and can't put in a signature so long as it's legal and truthful.0 -

That's such a shame.
Even though I am a broker myself, after such a glowing report I was going to contact them when my mortgage was next up for renewalI am a Mortgage adviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. 11,500 Mortgages eh....
I would love to know what lenders they are all from, considering that the total product count was hovering at 3000 at the last check.0 -
My Sourcing System tells me that I have 13903 mortgages to choose from today. I think there will be a number of duplications in them due to exclusives and semi exclusives.
It also includes lenders who have the same interest but different fees depending on the LTV, so you might have 4 products with the same interest rate but it is effectively a different deal due to the fee!I am a Mortgage Consultant and don't like to be told what I can and can't put in a signature so long as it's legal and truthful.0 -
