The future of B&B and BTL

To give Martin his due, he's probably just worrying about the yucky situation of the taxpayers having to repossess someone's house. In fact, the scenario he painted and that concerns you, may not happen in this case as much as in the case of Northern Rock, as the article itself points out elsewhere, due to a clause written into many of their contracts.0

How many bTLets has Martin Lewis got?Krusty & Phil Madoff, 1990 - 2007:
"Buy now because house prices only ever go UP, UP, UP."0 -
A few facts from the GG corner.
1. If FTBers hadn't been so keen to buy houses that they couldn't afford, BTL LLs could have bought more cheaply and rents would be lower.
2. LLs have saved some potential FTBers from saddling themselves with a mountain of debt.
3. Renting is more flexible and is very MSE. It stops people paying huge sums of money to the Treasury (Stamp Duty, VAT on EA fees, solicitor fees etc.)
4. It stops EAs earning 2% or thereabouts of the current house value every time you move.
5. BTL LLs do not enjoy preferential tax treatment.
6. My tenants are very happy (they gave up a similar HA house less than 200 yards away to take my property).
7. My tenants neighbours are very happy (I choose their neighbours).
8. Considering the extra services that I provide, the small premium over HA rents is great value.
9. I enjoy looking after my tenants (I wish I had more, I could do it full time).
10. Renting is not dead money.

Your my hero, BTL also stops global warming and stops seal cubs being beaten to death with big sticks.
Society would collapse without BTL.:D:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.
