    Morning all,

I've barely had chance to check out all of your exciting progress with this beautiful weater. SPent the entire weekend gardening at home which was pure bliss, then last night of down the allotment which is coming along rather nicely even if it does look slightly parched

JTB - I have no idea how long the rice will take, apparantly I have to keep the water to a certain level and I assume that it will just suddenly appear :D

I've put an ad on freecycle for a hops plant or cutting of as I believe now is the right time to do it. Fingers crossed I get something otherwise its back to the drawing board, or my third attempt at growing it from seed - I will not let it beat me :rotfl:

    Happy gardening all x

Shaz - if the posting of hops doesn't work I'll get straight on that website to purchase some :T

Right I'm off to garden and await my delivery of horse muck in exchange for a couple of tractor tyres :D:D

    This is how they were:

This is what I did today:
    100_1806.jpg

How's that? It looks a bit messy, and I would have preferred ridges, but I just did circular mounds around each plant. Is that ok?

How many more times should I need to do it?

    Thanks.

I like the random mounds, wish I'd done that now. But aren't you supposed to leave a couple of leaves just poking out the top after earthing up?

I don't think it's essential, I often cover mine over completely when frost is due.

    Good morning :)

On the tattie-growing, I have mine covered almost to the top but it's more a 'hide us from the hens' approach in case they get over the fence. :D

Sun's blazing here again and, for once, there's no howling wind, it's just blustery. I need to get some repairs done to prevent any further damage. One third of the greenhouse roof ripped off and now the corner of the garage roof! At least I ralised how exposed this place is before I started trying to plant out tomatoes and climbing things, although it's too late for the first 2 courgettes; they're long taken by the wind.

Catch up later, hope the sun is shining wherever you are.
