Shaz your garden is amazing. I'm hoping after this year I'll be more organised for next year and be able to plan better and make the most of the small space I have. I'm really impressed at what you've managed to do with your space :T It looks a lot bigger than mine but your's is really well thought out  I'm gonna have lots to think about now ;)

Love your potting shed too :T I want one lol

nykmedia, thats a great idea to protect your bed. It looks great  Something like that would probably work to keep the cats away from our raised beds.

Shame the weather is bad for some people, it's not too bad in the NW... a bit windy but no rain yet.

Shaz, loving the blog! I am really impressed at your use of space!

Today I managed to acquire some new planting trays so I am going to move my seedlings out to the greenhouse and plant up some new things in the house. I am seriously falling behind with the bed preparations and starting to get a bit worried about it. There just seems to be so much to do!

Rain , rain , rain:mad:! I really want to go out and get my beds done but the rain is pouring down and I would be soaked to the skin in mins if I went out there. Guess I am going to have to spend the day in the greenhouse planting seedlings. Fingers crossed the rain will stop later!

We need the rain though, it's been so dry here and I still haven't had enough rain.

We have had nothing but rain! Shame we can't all have a happy balance! Looks as if we might have some dry patches today so I am finishing my breakfast and heading out into the garden, yay!

It's lovely and sunny here today and I hope everyone else gets the sun too

I've just re-potted 2 strawberry plants that the dog has kindly knocked over. Hopefully they'll be ok and he hasn't done too much damage... nothing was snapped or broken so fingers crossed :D

Just planted my peas into a trough  We planted the seeds in peat pots and have just been keeping them moist. I noticed yesterday that they had some little thin shoots/clingy bits so checked the bottoms and the roots are through and some are LONG!!! I'll sit them against the fence and rig up some netting for them. They were meant to go into a raised bed but it still isn't done :o It's probably still too early but they look like they want to start climbing

I'm not so panicy about it all now. I've just decided to calm down and if it grows it grows and if it doesn't I've done it wrong and hopefully I'll know for next time :T

    Happy Easter everyone :D

Finally the rain stopped yesterday and I got loads of things done :D! I finished planting the front garden so it is filled with tiny plants that will hopefully spread all over the borders so that I don't have to worry about doing anything in my front garden again.

Expanded the shallot bed so that it is wider and longer and my OH finally did some stuff in the garden :j by digging over the dreaded potato bed that I have been avoiding! Only a small bit of it to do and we can fill it with potatos

Today it is beautiful and sunny:D:D:D finally!

The cold frame arrived yesterday so this evening I am going to dig that in properly and fill the base of it with compost so I can use it to grow my salad leaves so that they are not eaten by slugs.

This evening I am going to cut the grass and finish weeding the soft fruit bed so I can cover it with the woodchips I dug up and leave it be for the summer. Then I am planning in planting up a whole host of things if my OH carries the compost to the greenhouse, then maybe he will make my third raised bed.

Still need to dig the foundations for my guinea pig house although I am not sure sure about the best way of doing it . I figure it will all be fine!

How have you all been getting on??

Hello :) We spent almost all afternoon until about 8pm in the garden, so there's some more progress been made.

Shaz, I love all your pictures on the updated blog!

Rummer, it sounds like you had a very productive day. How's the pond coming along? (Mine still isn't started.)

Does anyone have any experience growing globe artichokes? I tried starting some off last year then had to move house, so I'm back to square 1 again. The seeds have germinated and the second set of leaves are now starting to grow. I know that these are a 2 year project and that they need plenty of space in a sunny spot, but I don't know what to do when. Could these be grown in pots or do they need a proper bed? I think I have about 20 plants in total, doing really well in the greenhouse at the moment, and would love to succeed in growing them to point of picking them for eating.
