Social Work Bursaries

Hello All,

I did year one Social Work at Uni last year however I am having to repeat 2 modules this year before I can progress onto year 2 In September. The unversity have also informed me that I have to undertake a futher module as it will not be running next year and also have to do a ECDL (which is free but runs all year) - before I can progress onto year 2.

Last year I got the bursary and goverment grants. I will have to pay about £1,200 this year for the 3 modules (ECDL is free)...Does anyone know If I can expect to get the bursary or gov grant? I have sent away for it anyway.

I think you need to contact the LEA I wonder if they will class you as part-time, if they do then that would mean you should get some funding.

are they letting you enrol into the second year? I just completed my social work degree and had a baby in my second year and did my placement in the summer. I then went late into placement in my third year and completed my disatation in Aug. I got my results late but will be able to attended graduation.

I did fail two essays but re-took them while I was doing my others. I know my uni wouldn't let you progress is if you failed your placement as you only ad one chance of retakes. speak to your tutor if its just a matter of assignments ask for support. good luck as I wanted to quit so many times
