Gran Canaria Holiday Scam

Went to Puerto Rico a few years back, One bright day a young english lad came upto us and asked if we had Breakfast, Dinner, etc?
We ended up in a taxi going upto a rather plush 5* hotel on the mountainside, And asked a few questions about our holidays.
To cut a long story short, They were bogus holiday villa sellers, Who asked for a 100.00 deposit to join an 'alleged' holiday club!
This didn't exist, But unfortunately we fell under the spell and paid 100.00 on our cashcard!!
I was completely taken in by this comapny It seemed so genuine, They even invited us back after we had paid for a Breakfast the next morning.
They did this to make it more genuine.
I even got all the paperwork, Signed etc.
But when we got home I checked the company out on the computer and to my 'Horror' realised we had been 'DONE'
The lady we were with for over 4 hours was very genuine and seemed miles away from the 'typical' sales pundit!!
So If you are going out to Gran Canaria in perticular Puerto Rico don't entertain them - walk away or tell them to do one!!
After that performance I have never spoken to anyone asking me if I have had this & that I just walk the other way.
I'm very strong minded but even I lost 100.00 on that one.
The company might have even been disqualified by now??
Gran Canaria is the worst place for Timeshare companies.
I learnt alot that day.
Beware There idiots.

The Canary islands have always been a hot spot for touts, genuine or not. With the intense media coverage of them I am surprised that anyone would still be hooked even for a minute.
If you are ever approached by someone like this just say 'no' firmly and ignore them, either keep on walking or if you are seated, just turn away from them and continue reading or talking to your companion as though they do not exist.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If you only lost £100, you've got off lightly - but you say you've signed paperwork (contracts) - perhaps you might been contractually obliged to pay them even more money."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Sorry to hear you were scammed. These people can be very plausible. It's a long time since I've been to the Canaries, but the sheer number of time-share touts put me off going again.
If you have anymore dealings with these people make sure your letters are all recorded/registered post. this is a good web-site for consumer info:

Well I asked a friend who was a Solicitor and he said the paperwork meant nothing!!
Because it was written in English, But in Spain.
Spanish law is very different as we know.
Thx for the replies.;)Thomson 757 Man0
