My friend and I were wondering, are there any mobile deals out there targeted at students in particular? I know Blyk do some interesting stuff, anyone else?

That's all I've heard of at the moment. There used to be dot, but that went under, but Blyk's fairly good (I don't seem to get any ads, but I get my refills) - and it's free! Perhaps just go for a sim-only "contract" (the 30-day rolling ones).
I'm considering a Skype phone. I use it a lot from my laptop, but if I get a few of my friends on it, it'll be free calls (and dirt cheap when calling to 'rents for money).

I know that the three store in the city i am at university in is currently doing some offers specifically aimed at students. I dont know if thats something happening in all of the UK or just in this city though. I think as a student the best ones to go for are the sim only contracts - as you can cancel at anytime with a months notice and your not paying for the price of the phone within the actual price plan!Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0

It depends on what you are going to use phone for (eg. Most of my minutes go to mum, who is on orange so get free as magic number which cuts bill) also whether you will text more or call more - and be wary of 08 numbers etc as they sneakily bump bill up
... but o2, orange and 3 are most competitive on high street generally, although 3 is notorious for customer service...
