  • Hi george
Thanks for the advice!! Some great stuff there! Regarding the council tax, I owe them about 6 months non payment, so im paying them 30 quid a week till i get straight with them, then im gonna direct debit it.
Im going to go check out the comparison websites to see if i can switch, however ot too sure if i need to contact british gas to get the meters uninstalled or something?
Regarding the smoking, ive got an appointment on monday to see the nurse. I did just want some patches or somet, but the first time u go u have to go for a half hour session!! But yeah Im gonna get some help with it coz im useless at cold turkey!!
Regarding the overdraft, its on OH bank account, and unfortunately, his head is firmly buried in the sand and he hasnt had his LBM yet!! I spoke to him about it tonight in fact n he refused to listen to me, saying we just have to pay it off and cancel the over draft on the account, i can see where hes coming from he just wants the debt cleared!!

Had an ok day today, my aim is by next week to have sorted out the gaas and electric, and get some of the rent arrears down, we are currently 900 quid behind and they are threatenin to take it to court which scares the life out of me!!

    Hi

    Welcome back!

Well done for posting your SOA. Not really anything to add over what others have said.

Keep attacking those rent arrears - you're doing really well!

Is there any possibility of help with the driving lessons if it is a requirement for the job??

Good luck with giving up the smoking - this is a cornerstone of your quest to be Debt-Free. I trust you are trying to cut a ciggie out a day at the moment, just to get started.

Keep up the good work mm.

Have you checked your credit file recently?
You can do this free at experian (if you cancel within 30 days). Hopefully you'll see when the CCJ drops off your record (6 years from order date).

Soon you'll be able to but a bucket and spade and hopefully help out hubby too. :)

Hi MM,Well done on posting your SOA - I know it's hard to take the bull by the horns but we are all behind you.Obviously the ciggies are a major drain on your resources (but you know this already) so if you and OH can pack them in you'll see an immediate improvement in your finances AND your health, and more importantly the health of your child. Best of luck with this - it can't be easy but you'll do it - we have faith!!!With regard to driving lessons - could a friend take you out to get experience. It would be free!!!Meal plans and downgrading a brand are definitely important tools to help bust the debt. I got my grocery spend down from £180 per month to £80 by doing this. You've taken a huge step to "own up" to us and more importantly, yourself that you have a problem that needs addressing. You've come to the right place though - we are with you every step of the way.Good luck!!!Big cyber Strumpet hug coming your way!!Strumpetxxx

Welcome back to the boards. I remember your post about gambling your wages so WELL DONE on not gambling since.

If you are meant to be paying an extra £30 a week on your rent then maybe presents fund can be scrapped for now. I'm sure people will understand.

Groceries could also be cut down a bit, take a look on the old style boards and the shop but dont drop (i love the asda silly buys). shopping online helps cut the bill down too as there are no aisles to wander past tempting you to buy things you dont really need. There are plenty of free delivery codes floating about so you save petrol too.

If you havent already, sign up to all the survey sites to earn some extra cash (this could replace your presents fund) and have a sort out of things you could ebay. Good to have a clear out before Christmas and maybe half of what you make can go towards Christmas pressies?

Good luck ! and good luck with quitting smoking too :D
