Can Serious money be made?

I invest £4800 in the bank that I work for (Barc) each year, reinvest div's and was wondering that even though the financial markets are in turmoil, that if you are in it for the long term, then this turmoil could be a blessing in disguise.

With the shareprices being so low and expecting them to fall even more, you are obviously buying more shares for your £.

No doubt the share prices will increase over the next 20+ years in the financial markets.

Is there serious money to be made if you keep investing in the financial sector?

  • I would be wary of keeping all your investments in 1 basket. For example if Barclays were to collapse, you will have lost your job as well as your investment.
  • What are the bank's Directors and top management doing? I'd follow their lead on buying.

Yes, for people with money and willing to risk in the long run investing in shares now could prove v profitable. Barclays dont have high mortgage debt so they should be safe, plus they have a lot of capital, it all depends on their strategy to combat this period though.. Its just a matter of when you decide will be the low point as there is plenty of turbulence for a while yet..
