ING Direct Savings Account.

Hello Folks

I want to transfer around £10,000 from my IceSave account and I was thinking of using this one following a recommendation from a friend. I've done a little reading about the account and it looks promising with a healthy interest rate.

What do MSE people think of this account and does it offer the £35,000 protection clause?

Thanks in advance.

ING is the last place I would use to save my cash! I had a large amount with them but transferred most of it to Icesave, I believe ING has about £7 of my savings now, they keep asking me to reinvest but AFAIAC they burnt their boats!

IMHO Icesave is far better than ING.

Thanks, my problem is that I have too much invested in Icesave hence the reason I want to spread this out a little.

I am in the same position having a large amount saved with Icesave, I have no intention of moving my cash elsewhere. :)

I also had fairly significant funds with ING several years ago, until their rates went through the floor. The current rate may be OK but, from past experience, you need to keep an eye on it regularly.

ING is covered up to €38000 under the Netherlands scheme, with any balance up to £35,000 being covered by the FSCS.
  • ING state that they are in top 20 banks in the world. Are they really safe or should I move money in excess of guarantee. I have well over the £35K deposited but its in a bond and there are penalties on withdrawing early should I sit it out or run?
  • Nilrem, What do you think of Icesave now?
