The worst in my experience:

Abbey - appalling mess of a company, I was a customer since my teens, but a catalogue of screw ups over the past 2 years with my and my family's accounts (search the forums for my threads) have left us all closing the accounts and moving elsewhere. Without doubt the worst customer service and inability to do the simplest things by staff - I'd never ever bank with them again.

Barclays - a mess, closed my accounts in my 20s, after poor service. I found I always have to wait an age in the branch for anyone with authority to do anything simple - as do relatives with accounts there today.

The good ones:

LTSB - been a customer since I was a 16, a few minor niggles, but on the whole very good quality service, friendly staff and very happy to use them, my main "bank".

NPBS - efficient, fast, friendly.

Kaupthing Edge - fantastic and flawless service, no problems at all.

Skipton - branch based, fast, friendly, efficient, great service.

Ruffler - very impressive customer service.
