Clueless where iTunes is concerned, please help

I have won 10 downloads from iTunes but I don't know how to get them, I do hope someone can help cos they run out tomorrow.

I've created an iTunes account and checked the iTunes help but the only info I can find is this:

To use an iTunes gift certificate or iTunes Gift Card:


In iTunes, click iTunes Store (below Store).



Below Account, click Gift Certificate or iTunes Gift Card and follow the onscreen instructions.

My problem is tho that on the left where it stays STORE, I have two subheadings under that, iTunes Store and Shopping Cart. When I click on iTunes Store I get a screen that shows Apple Account Information where I can edit a/c info, payment information but nothing which says anything about gift cert/gift card.

The code I have runs out at the end of September (tomorrow) so I need to try and use it tonight if I can, but I'm really stuck. I do hope someone can help me.

Once you are in the store, just you the main iTunes search (top right) to find tracks, and browse using the main window. If you are unsure, look at https://www.apple.com it's very easy!

PS just shop as normal in the store, add 10 tunes you want, then at the checkout enter the voucher codes when requested.

How long does it take for an activation to go through? I bought one today, but I can't seem to redeem it.
