Sofa into 1st floor flat

How on earth do you measure to see if it would fit? We had some delivered by DFS, they might have to go into storage before we find our house, but we'd love to have them in the flat for xmas.
The only worry is getting them through the front door. I'm thinking that the problem might be that the door is on the right hand side of the staircase but not sure how to guestimate!

It's often easier to put large items in through the window, even if it's 1st floor.
Depends on sofa and window size.
Get a large cardboard box and mock up the sofa and then try taking it up the stairs.Happy chappy0 -
