ok i prob have a recipe for this somewhere. but i want a simple one to make please.

i have a chicken to roast later, plus loads of mushrooms. now i think i can make pastry.( gonna try anyway, never been much good. but i will give it my best shot).

now i can make a simple white sauce do u think this is all i will need plus added a bit of seasoning , or should i add a little cheese. this is where i get a bit stuck as i don't want it to be bland but then i don't wanna get it all wrong and it be horrid. once i cooked it one i'll be fine.

thanks in advance as i know i will get loads of help .

    Hi there

I usually buy shop puff pastry for this to make it way easier, but thats cos I cnat make puff pastry no matter what I do :)

i usually do a slolw white sauce with the mushrooms & a v finely chopped onion in.I might use a bit of lazy garlic, sometimes just cracked black pepper. I do tend to chuck in a bit of other veg to make it colorful & sweet like courgettes or yellow pepper.

For super laziness you can use a tin of mushroom soup for the sauce  and turns out fine :)

lazy garlic is that minced garlic in a jar http://www.tesco.com/pi/xpi/4/5012818160154_200.jpg

A chicken soup can also work well Ive used this before, but I do prefer the mushroom one. But again, a standard whie sauce roux- type will work just as well, and what I tend to use.

If I have to do chicken pie without the aid of a Campbells Condensed ;) then I make up a white sauce and add just a touch of mustard to it. It really livens the flavour up.

Rather than making a sperate white sauce,I find it easier to fry an onion add the chicken (leftovers) when all warmed through, add 1 tbsp flour mix then add milk until the right thickness, not too runny as this makes pastry soggy, add the mushrooms at the end so as to keep them from being too sloppy, put into a pie dish with pastry on top (and underneath if you like) cook in oven about 180 for about 30mins.

No, use the stork. I tend to use whatever I have lying around when I make pastry.
