    Just noticed this thread.

I went through the same thing, I lost all motivation when I got my pay rise/new job 6 months ago. I bought some new clothes and I got a new Ipod and a WII as well :D both are great things and I love them, but to get my motivation back I had to phone my dad :rotfl:

My dad is a typical debt free old man, he is from the era when they had no way to borrow money other than a mortgage so he always gave me into trouble for using a credit card. I called him and told him and got a very long conversation ( filled with choice words) and that was enough to get me back on track.

I wouldnt use the savings, they are for a very special day so leave them be. Thats great that you are ebaying etc, motivation is getting back on track. Do you use cash back sites so if you are spending money at least you are getting some back from it? Could you take an extra job for a couple extra hours a week? That way it keeps you busy ( so not spending money) but you are still earning as well. xxx

Many thanks for your advice, it is much appreciated!

I do use cashback sites, although when spending dries up so does the cash back, however, now I have my own house will be using it annually to renew insurances etc, made around £120 this year on home and life insurance alone!

I also do surveys, don't get massive amounts, but every little helps. I am due £50 from one of them next month after finally reaching the cash out level, that will be nice one it comes through! I enter loads of competitions soon, but yet to see any really decent returns on the back of that.

As for the extra job, I wouldn't want one, its not that I am lazy, but my job can be quite demanding and I often find myself working from home on an evening etc, I also don't think that my employers would like it... I will soon be into the 40% tax band, and it would be very demoralising to have another job and see almost half of what I earn go to the tax man....!
