I would like to nominate Greenshieldstamp for 'The OldStyle Gesture of Support for Martin' thread.

However, I've a sneaky feeling that as the thread is aimed at Martin himself, it will not receive the award - just wanted to express my thanks to GSS for starting it :).

Obviously Foofighter should be the real winner for this month :T .

Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures.

For this month -- and this month only -- could I respectfully ask MSE to consider awarding not one, but TWO, posts of the month?

One deserved winner must be foofighter.

But the second winner must surely be the new MSE poster: valleycommando.

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/member.html?u=530927

This poster is an "anonymous" employee of ING Direct, and caught up in the whirlwind of activity that has almost overwhelmed the bank since it took on Kaupthing Edge UK customer accounts on Wednesday.

The situation has been very fraught, not least the "missing" £millions that were transferred out of KE before ING's acquisition but which failed to show up in UK depositors' linked accounts.

As the MSE Savings Board shows, there has been great debate and great anxiety.

Valleycommando stepped in and consistently provided calm and factual guidance -- guidance which, as events have turned out today, proved to be 100% correct.

As an anonymous private individual, Valleycommando had no prospect of recognition or reward for taking the time and the trouble to join MSE solely to reassure others. Nor is there any likelihood of recognition by ING Direct, which certainly will never know his / her true identity.

As one of the hundreds of MSErs caught up in the Kaupthing Edge transfer situation, I'd certainly be prepared to contribute to the £50 'prize' which I believe Valleycommando merits: if ever there was a classic case of an MSEr acting in the true spirit of ths forum -- to help, to inform, and to reassure -- then this is it.

I'd like to nominate Pandaonmyshoulder for the Dear Santa thread in DFW. It has brought a little bit of light heartedness to what are tough times.
