Recommend a good current account?

I have a Halifax current account for years, usually OK with it, until the faster bank transfers were introduced in May. They could only receive payments sent on the same day, impossible to send out payments using the same days transfer, while other banks offer same day online transfer services almost everywhere. What annoys me most, they do not even allow you to initiate a BAC payment on the same day. I tried to arrange one yesterday for today, but the earliest day was tomorrow 2 working days later. Unbelievable!
Anyone who has actual experience could recommend a good bank who offers same day online transfer services on their current account, please let me know.
