What are you making monkeyboy? It might depend on the recipe. Also if you are using an American recipe then oatmeal is the word they use for porridge oats.0

Hi,
It's oatmeal parkin - the recipe I'm using is Delia's.
Thanks,

Right, I'm sure I've seen recipes for parkin that use porridge oats. If you want oatmeal though then I don't see why whizzing oats in the fp won't work.0

Thank you!
Am off to make now (present for people on placement), so will see how it goes.

If I'm making Staffordshire oatcakes (they require oatmeal) I just blitz some oats in the processor. Never had a problem with it.0
