Has anybody used Delcampe as alternative to ebay?

I'm looking for an alternative to ebay after closing my shop, losing Power Seller status and paying much more in fees. Somebody has suggested Delcampe which seems Europe dased and should suit the small collectables I sell. Has anybody had experience with them?

Cheers

Mr T

Had you ever heard of them before? If you have to ask whether people have heard of them the answer is probably no, and unfortunately that will probably apply to your buyers as well.

Actually taking a look at the website they would appear to be US based and the user base is around 162,000 which doesn't even scrape the barrel member wise..even ebid has 1 million.

Delcampe.com or Delcampe.net is a well established auction site based in Belgium. It has grown quietly and is the 1st place to look for stamps, postcards, coins, etc. - over 17 million listed at the moment (more than eBay)

It has MoneyBookers integrated into Checkout, offers postal seller address verification (just done mine) and listing is straight forward. All payment preferences & T&Cs are listed seperately and appear on all your listings.

    Latest figures: Ongoing sales 17 591 461 Items from the beginning 44 845 404 Items sold since the beginning 14 122 627 Sold items (September ...) 415 460 Sold items (August) 417 424 Sold items (July) 383 723

I use Delcampe both for buying and selling and would recommend it as an alternative site.

Look on the Pheebay.com forums for the Delcampe thread for more info.

Just a reminder about Delcampe to any stamp & postcard sellers:

Delcampe have a stand at the Picture Postcard show in London for three days in September...

Still in a state of shock - 10 sales yesterday and 3 more this morning.

Shall get my flights to Canada paid for sooner than I thought at this rate!

According to the site front page, Delcampe now has 38,835,941 ongoing sales.

Actually in the postcard market Delcampe are a reasonable player, as this thread proves.

For most serious collectors the stuff listed there is of higher value than stuff on eBay.

I've never used them, but I've never had the sort of stuff listed there to sell, nor have I particularly wanted to buy something listed.

It's a niche site and if the OP finds they sell stuff there then good luck to them.

I might have a look myself as I have some more postcards to sell off as a private collector.
