Uncofirmed Address - High Value Item - Help

Hi,

I tend to buy and sell small value items and never given much thought to confirmed / unconfirmed address.

Just sold an item for £444.94

The ebayer has 54 feedback - No strikes - 100% score - BUT and uncofirmed address.

I know its my fault that i should mentioned on an advert.

Having spoken to the person that bought my item he ok to get his addressed confrimed and more then willing to get that sorted but heres the problem:

After phoning pay pal they advised to give full refund and that ebay MIGHT give you your charges/end value fee,s back.Plus once he is confrimed he have to buy that item back off you again then it be covered after he buys again

Its seems possible that you can both mutally agree to back out and the fee,s get refunded but dont have a clue how to sort.

All help and suggestions much appricated

Check his name and address on 192.com. If they tally I would send it out. It will also show his phone number. Confirmed paypal addresses are not that easy in the UK becuase of the way credit card companies work.

I've sold and posted high-value items to unconfirmed addresses without any trouble. Your buyer has 50+ feedback, all at 100%, plus he's communicated with you already; it's up to you really.

You really have a couple of questions here, so responses, well mine anyway, might be a bit long!

Firstly, even to uncomfirmed addresses you are covered against a straight forward chargeback for item not received as long as you sent it trackable, so you have the option of doing that if the item is light enough to be carried by special delivery. Don't forget though to pay for additional insurance to cover yourself against loss in the post. Even to confirmed addresses sellers should always be looking at protecting themselves.

The second bit of the question concerns FVfs. If you do not want to proceed with the sale then you can only get your FVFs back (not your listing fees) if you go through the NPB process. There are two ways to do this, one a straight forward NPB which will guarantee you your FVfs back but also put a strike on the buyers account that will remain there for good. The other option is a mutual 'choose not to proceed' claim. The mutual means that both you and your buyer agree not to proceed with the sale, however, there is a big problem with this and that is that the buyer has to formally agree the claim. EBay will send him a short 4 (is it 4?) option question and unless he ticks the exact right box you will lose your FVfs. One of the wrong boxes is something like 'would you be willing to proceed with this purchase' and many buyers tick that one and lose their seller the FVfs. This is either by accident, or it could be by design if that buyer is piqued at a seller withdrawing from the sale after auction end.

Obviously though you can only go for the mutual option and gamble that the buyer will do the right thing.

AT any point the buyer can do a non performing seller complaint on you as you are a non performing seller, and leave you negative feedback to warn other buyers that you withdraw from auctions after they close.

Not to check basic stuff. Will give you who lives at house (assuming on electoral roll) telephone number etc.

I normally just put surname and post code.

Please be aware that 192.com isn't by any means up to date so don't be too surprised if your buyers details aren't the same as what you have been told.

For example.... I've been married nearly 5 years but I'm listed as living with hubby but in my single name.

Personally the buyer sounds ok to me having 54 feedback which is 100%. There are probably more unconfirmed members of e-bay than confirmed. I would definately do as you say and send special delivery. Or is the buyer close to you and can collect and pay cash?

Oops...I see you have already checked out the buyers details on 192.com. Let us know what you decide and how it goes...
