Is that true? I downloaded it a few weeks ago and it's still on their site now ? Do you mean they're not going to update it anymore ?

pchelpman wrote:I guess you can try but I don't really see the point as it's going off the market. Any link you may giveon your site may not work in time and, more seriously, the firewall capabilites may not be supported/upgraded any more. Over time your hosted version may become useless.
Mmm the thing is Ive used it for the last 1yr or so and Ive never had
an update as I thnk its quite a static program in the way that it works
as its not like it has to update definitions or stuff like that..
And I have looked for updates but nowt..and Im on 5.6 2808

Oooh.. I thought it was only me didn't like Nortons.
Many years ago (pre windows) I thought Peter Norton and his utilities was just great and I wanted to marry him and have his babies. (LOL)
But I've seen so many computers tied in knots with Nortons Anti Virus. I've opted for AVG which is very unobtrusive and works fine for me.0 -
I use Look 'n Stop for my firewall software and Kaspersky for my anti-virus software.
My personal opinion of Norton's anti-virus software is that I'd rather have the virus as it would affect my system less. Their firewall software is slow, resource-hogging and over intrusive.0 -
Chuckman...your combination looks a good one.
Intel....you are right to a degree. Firewalls work by blocking access to open ports and the like so those aren't going to change. However, it also "sniffs" through packets of data to see if it stinks. If it does...it's blocked. However, things change and malware authors get cleverer by the second. Firewalls have to stay in touch.
I have used ZoneAlarm and, every so often, Zone Labs issues a program update. There was a huge one a few days ago.
Those sorts of things will be lost if you rely on an older version of a program not updated.0 -
