They've all gone now, but the non-pro 9500's may be worth a try. The guys at retek don't mind confirming whether or not the memory is in the "L-shape". If it is in the "L-shape" it'll softmod to a 9700 most of the time. I bought 2 of retek's 9500 non-pros last time for the purposes of soft modding. Currently got one of them in my main rig running as a 9700.0

I went against the 9500se/ or any SE edition to be precise. They use cut down technology and cant shift half as many polygons.
After doing some research, and being controlled by my budget - I have recently bought a 9550. With these too you gotta be careful which version/brand u go for. The bigger boys allow a lot of scope for OC'ing, ive read reports of getting this dinky card upto XT speeds. And it'll handle Doom3/HL-2 no probs.
